Varsity Baseball Asst. Coach

We are looking for a dedicated coach and Christ follower to be the Varsity Baseball Assistant Coach for the 2024-2025 school year. This position starts August 19, 2024 and runs through May 2025. TCA’s Athletic Department utilizes sports and competition to teach transformational, life-giving biblical truths to each student-athlete. As a coach you will not only help student athletes improve their baseball skills, you will remind them of the importance of academics, instill a Christian work ethic (Col. 3:23) and help strengthen their faith in Christ.

General Responsibilities

• Help lead and attend baseball practices during the regular season
• Plan and organize practices coordinating with Head Coach
• Plan warm-up and conditioning drills for practice
• Attend pep rally when the Varsity baseball team is recognized
• Attend all Varsity baseball games
• Help conduct baseball tryouts for Varsity and Junior Varsity teams
• Help document and plan weekly Biblical character lessons with Team Chaplain (Mark 12:30)
• Assist with ordering for all baseball uniforms
• Help organize parent meetings
• Help manage miscellaneous items
• Communicate with parents on a weekly basis (scheduling, updates, etc.)
• Ability to motivate and improve performance of athletes

Experience and Qualifications

• A strong commitment to the positive development of the baseball program at TCA
• Experience playing and/or coaching at the college or professional level, preferred
• Experience throwing batting practice and hitting fungo
• Ability to instill teamwork and community within a group of athletes pointing them to Christ
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Experience working with Upper School athletes in baseball
• Knowledge of the sport of baseball
• Ability to build a good rapport with student and parents
• Agree with and support TCA's Doctrinal, Biblical and Mission statements and Christian values

Physical, Mental and Environmental Requirements

• Eye-hand, mind-eye coordination, physical dexterity
• Ability to bend, stoop, squat, jump and run
• Normal physical demands of coaching
• Night hours required
