The Head Program Coach for Tennis (boys and girls) is responsible for leading and developing a highly competitive tennis program at TCA, while helping students grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ. This is a seasonal position. TCA’s Athletic Department utilizes sports and competition to teach transformational, life giving biblical truths to each student-athlete. As a coach at TCA you will not only help student athletes improve their athletic ability, you will remind them of the importance of academics, instill a Christian work ethic and help strengthen their faith in Christ. (Col. 3:23) and help strengthen their faith in Christ.
General Responsibilities
- Oversee Varsity, JV, and MS tennis programs (tryouts, practices, games, strength and conditioning, team activities, end of season activities, off season programs)
- Supervise and mentor other seasonal and stipend tennis coaches
- Coordinate and lead Varsity tennis practices and games during regular and off season and evaluate practice plans for JV and MS programs
- Direct summer tennis camp for LS, MS, and US Students
- Assist with spiritual development and the creation and delivery of Biblical character-building content for all levels (Mark 12:30)
- Assist with uniforms, travel arrangements, team photographs, and other administrative functions
- Plan and present at pre-season, regular season, and post season meetings, pep rallies, and awards events
- Assist with routine scheduling and communication
- Attend meetings as requested
- Monitor strength training and conditioning at all levels
Qualifications
- Agree with and support TCA’s Doctrinal, Biblical and Mission statements and Christian values
- A strong commitment to the development and advancement of the Tennis Program at TCA (LS to US students)
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Experience playing at the collegiate level preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and peers
Physical, Mental and Environmental Requirements
- The physical ability to run drills (including but not limited to: swinging, bending, reaching, stooping, pushing, pulling)
- Normal physical demands of coaching
- Ability to work long hours, mostly outdoors
