Reporting to the Head of School (HOS), the Chief Development Officer (CDO) is responsible for the comprehensive development program for Trinity Christian Academy Foundation. The CDO is responsible for the strategic planning and implementation of overall fundraising activities including annual giving, capital campaigns, student tuition aid, special events, stewardship and other development-related projects. The CDO oversees a development team that values respect, collaboration and teamwork.
The CDO must be able to work with a minimal amount of supervision and handle confidential information appropriately. The individual should possess a strong work ethic, enjoy problem solving, communicate professionally and patiently with parents, alumni and the TCA constituency and possess a strong acumen for fundraising for non-profit organizations.

General Responsibilities

Manage portfolio of high-capacity donors/prospects to secure major and principal level gifts

In collaboration with HOS and development leadership, set strategic direction and goals for fundraising initiatives

Develop a comprehensive plan to integrate all aspects of fundraising – annual giving, capital campaigns, student tuition aid, endowment program, special events, alumni programs – outlining clear and specific goals and objectives, ensuring the plan is executed in consideration of budget constraints and deadlines

In collaboration with HOS and General Counsel, develop and enforce development policies and procedures

Advance TCA’s mission, philosophy, vision and core values by leading a development team while encouraging collaboration, teamwork and respect

Provide spiritual leadership to development team by modeling a life committed to Christ consistent with TCA’s statements and covenants

As approved by the HOS and in conjunction with the Director of Human Resources, assist with hiring and onboarding of new development staff

Assist HOS with budget matters and special projects as requested

Serve as a member of Executive Council and Senior Leadership Team – providing updates on fundraising progress

Serve on the Student Tuition Aid Committee

In collaboration with HOS, oversee TCA Foundation Board

Demonstrate the fruits of the spirit (Gal. 5:22-23) in daily work, and interactions with colleagues and others
Required Education, Experience and Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree required
-
10 years of professional fundraising experience, preferably in educational setting

Must be a highly energetic professional with a track record of building donor relationships and closing gifts in the six- and seven-figure range

Demonstrated experience and proven track record of successfully managing fundraising teams

Outstanding management skills that demonstrate the ability to train and lead staff to superior performance

Willingness to travel as needed

Regularly attend co-curricular school and alumni activities and events (e.g., athletic competitions, school programs, plays and concerts)

Exceptional communication skills (verbal and written)

Ability to clearly and passionately articulate the mission, vision, needs and aspirations of TCA to small and large groups of parents, alumni, donors and colleagues

Create compelling presentations and proposals to inspire giving

Physical, Mental and Environmental Requirements

Normal physical demands of working in a development environment (including, but not limited to standing, reaching, stooping, squatting down, kneeling, and occasional lifting up to 25 pounds)

Must be able to give, receive and analyze information, prepare written materials and input information into computer

Proficiency in the computer programs used in development department including Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge
