Job Purpose: Utilizes computerized tomography scanner to produce cross-section images of patient’s internal organs and tissues for diagnosis

 

Essential Functions: (Examples of Duties)

1. Complete patient education regarding the exam

2. Promote privacy and comfort for the patient.

3. Participate in continuing education and learning experiences to enhance and maintain current knowledge and skills for continued competence

4. Operates CT equipment to produce images of designated cross-sections

5. Complete appropriate documentation related to the procedure

6. Perform quality control functions related to CT and follows safety zone protocol

7. Follow infection control and safety guidelines

8. Assist in directing plain film patients as necessary

9. Performs related work as required.

Qualifications

Education: Completion of a two year approved School of Radiologic Technology

 

Experience: One year full time experience as a CT Scan Technologist

 

Knowledge and Skills: Demonstrate an understanding of human anatomy, physiology and medical terminology. Accurately interpret physician scanning instructions. Administer contrast material. Send images to Radiologist for interpretation. Cleans and disinfect patient treatment rooms. Utilizes ALARA guidelines for reducing radiation doses. Uses professional and ethical judgement and critical thinking when performing their duties. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

 

Licenses/Certifications: Valid state radiology registration as required by state law. Registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology. CT Certification preferred. CPR certification.

 

Working Conditions: (list any environmental aspects of the position that have an impact on the performance of the job)

 

Physical Demand: Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. May be required to help lift/transfer patient. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours. Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
